i just got a new phone from a friend and i need to know how to chnage the number on the verizon website after logging in the your account thing.How do you change your cell phone without changing the number?
You can call Verizon Customer Care (*611) or visit a verizon store to do what is called an ESN Swap. Verizon does NOT use sim cards because they are not on the GSM network. To my knowledge, there is no way to change your ESN on verizonwireless.com through myaccount.

If the SIM modules are the same kind just put your phone's SIM module in the new phone. The phone number is assigned to the SIM. If it does not have a SIM because one of the phones is too old to have one then you need to contact Verizon (usually in person but maybe they can do this over the phone). You would need to know a lot of those little numbers inside the phone IMEI and so on.
i believe you have to take the new (used) phone to your dealer and get them to change the SIM card from your old phone to the new phone. the sim card is like a miniature computer with all your info on it.. if you know someone smart enough they may be able to change them for you.
